Radiomics-based machine-learning
classification of bone and soft tissue tumors
RADIO-BOSTT is an AIRC-funded project that aims to investigate the performance of radiomics-based machine learning for classification of bone and soft tissue tumors in both diagnosis-related tasks, such as discrimination of tumor type and grading, and prognosis-related tasks, such as prediction of response to neoadjuvant therapy, local recurrence or distant metastasis, and survival.
RADIO-BOSTT’s secondary objectives are to:
• identify reliable and informative radiomic features of bone and soft tissue tumors to be
included in machine-learning classifiers;
• compare the performance of radiomics-based machine-learning classifiers with
experienced and specialized radiologists;
• allow sharing of experiments and machine-learning algorithms for classification of bone
and soft tissue tumors with other physicians and scientists remotely.
The research plan of RADIO-BOSTT is divided into four main work packages to address the key objectives of the project.
